Historic bay-side buildings on the Tasman Peninsula

Write for Tasman Region

Editorial standards for contributors: citeable facts, no invented prices or events, and respect for palawa country and living towns.

This guide accepts a small amount of contributed work when it adds a planning insight we do not already have: a walk described from recent feet, a seasonal nature note tied to a parks source, a town-services update that a visitor can use.

We do not accept advertorial, sponsored rankings, or “top ten” lists with prices attached. We do not publish guest posts whose only job is a backlink. We do not invent quotes.

Standards

  • Palawa / Tasmanian Aboriginal country is not a preface sentence. If you write about Eaglehawk Neck or the bays, use publicly documented cultural-heritage framing and do not invent story.
  • Every practical claim needs a source a reader can open: parks.tas.gov.au, portarthur.org.au, coalmines.org.au, council pages, or a primary scientific or heritage register note.
  • Heritage business names stay unverified unless you have first-hand, dated confirmation and the operator’s own current page.
  • No prices, no star ratings, no event dates you cannot show on an organiser page.
  • Bodies must be original. Do not rewrite archive text from the old directory.

Pitch via Contact with a one-paragraph angle, your sources, and whether you have been on the peninsula in the last year. We edit heavily. We may decline without a long explanation.

What a good pitch looks like

One paragraph of angle, three sources, the month you were last on the peninsula, and a sentence about what you will not claim. Example: a winter note on walking Cape Raoul after rain, citing the parks grade and a current alert page, refusing to call the track empty or easy.

What we will likely decline: a hotel round-up, a festival preview with dates you cannot show, a “hidden gem” shack with a rate, a copied parks brochure, a piece that treats Pydairrerme country as colour.

How editing works

We will cut adjectives, add sources, and put the direct answer first when the piece is a question. We will add the heritage warning if a business name appears. We will keep your voice if it is precise. We will not keep a paragraph that could have been written about any coast.

Payment, if any, is discussed only after a piece is wanted. Do not send a full draft unsolicited as an attachment that demands a reply. Use the contact form, then wait.

This page exists because contributor culture on old regional sites often meant spam. The rebuilt rule is the opposite: fewer bylines, more evidence, no invented peninsula. Contributors who have already published parks-cited walking notes, or who live in Tasman Council and can describe services without gossip, are the most useful. Contributors who want to “boost their brand on a travel site” are not.

We will not host your booking widget. We will not host your festival flyer. We will host, sometimes, a paragraph that makes a planner slower and more accurate. That is the only guest we have room for.

Still shaping a peninsula day?

Start with timing and towns, then layer stays, tables, and the cliff walks. Official park and historic-site pages remain the source for tickets and alerts.
